The superficialitization of America

Yes, that is probably a made-up word but, in the last decade or so, it has become a word that needed inventing.

We now have a generation that, while intelligent in many regards, some, very vocal members of the generation are completely ignorant regarding some very important matters.

We all hear about a woman’s “right to choose.” Putting aside for a moment the rights of the unborn which we could debate forever without agreement, what does the woman in question have a right to choose. Does she have the right to choose to not take advantage of the myriad birth control options available for decades, often free of charge? Is she OK to choose to turn a cold shoulder to the morality that has served humanity for the almost life of the species?

If a woman (or any other gender) has the right to choose to be irresponsible, doesn’t that right carry with it the responsibility of dealing with the outcome of that choice…whether that be an unwanted child, a lifetime of depression and guilt, or a dreaded and often deadly disease.

The point here being, if you argue, “My body, my choice,” it should carry the caveat, “my body, my responsibility.”
